"Sadness in Japanese Motif"
(collage painting on cardboard, 24X36, 2004)
"Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live."
Norman Cousins
"Somebody should tell us, right at the start of our lives, that we are dying. Then we might live life to the limit, every minute of every day. Do it! I say. Whatever you want to do, do it now! There are only so many tomorrows."
Pope Paul VI
"I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge - myth is more potent than history - dreams are more powerful than facts - hope always triumphs over experience - laughter is the cure for grief - love is stronger than death."
Robert Fulghum
This painting was inspired by my photo taken by a man I was in love with. When we were together he took a lot of pictures of me. Many of them served as inspiration for my artwork. Now, after his death, they inspire me even more. He was always able to capture me the way I see myself; seemingly absent-minded, lost in my own world, chasing after my dreams. I become sad, whenever I think that he would never be able to realize his dreams, but in my heart I hope that by infusing his vision and my art I might be able to realize some of his dreams for him.
