Character Illustration - "Housewife"

(watercolor & acrylic illustration on paper, 2008)

"I hate the word housewife; I don't like the word home-maker either. I want to be called Domestic Goddess."
Roseanne Barr

"No laborer in the world is expected to work for room, board, and love - except the housewife."
Letty Cottin

"Why don’t housewives need watches? Because there's a clock on the stove"

A housewife called up a pet store and said, “Send me 30,000 cockroaches at once.”
“What in the WORLD do you want with 30,000 cockroaches? asked the astonished clerk.
“Well,” replied the woman, “I am moving today, and my lease says I must leave the premises in exactly the same condition as I found them.”

Name: Brenda Rossi

Profession: Ex-graphic designer, Currently a housewife

Personality: Tidy, Honest, Gentle

Place of residence: Dodge City, Kansas

Life story: Brenda moved to Kansas after marrying her husband Ted. Originally from Oklahoma Brenda met Ted online and after several years of writing back and forth she finally decided to meet him in person. They met in the summer of 2000 and it was love at first site. Ted asked her to marry him two months later. At first, Brenda was reluctant to move to Kansas because she loved her job in Tulsa, but eventually she gave in. She found an even better job shortly after moving to Dodge City. Brenda had her first child a year after she married Ted and quickly realized that she didn't want to work anymore. Staying home with her little daughter turned out to be more rewarding than having a career. Brenda loved being a mom so much that she decided that she wanted to have more children. She often feels tired taking care of the two that she now has, but she still wants to have more, (at least two more).
