Dead celebrity society
I always get amused when I see people that resemble each other. However, I find it even more entertaining when a living person resembles somebody who is no longer with the living.
Edward Herrmann (left) and Charles de Gaulle (right)
| Edward Herrmann, a wonderful actor who's appeared in "Gilmore Girls" and "The Emperor's Club" reminds me of the former French president "le Grand Charles" de Gaulle. |
|
Jon Stewart (left) and Ilia Repin
(right)
|
Jon Stewart of "The Daily Show" bears an uncanny resemblance to a Russian author Vsevolod Garshin. |
Gregori Rasputin (left) and Christopher Eccleston
(right)
| The notoriously infamous monk Gregori Rasputin looked like British actor Christopher Eccleston. Eccleston appeared in "The Others", one of my favorite horror movies. |
|
Jack London (left) and Aidan Quinn
(right)
|
One of my favorite writers of all time is Jack London. His writings had an enormous influence on the development of my character. My understanding of friendship and loyalty came from London's stories. As a child I always thought that Jack London looked a lot like my grandfather when the latter was younger. After I saw "Legends of the Fall" I realized that London also bore resemblance to Aidan Quinn. |
John Mahoney (left) and Franklin Dv. Roosevelt
(right)
| I used to watch "Frasier" religiously and especially loved Frasier's father Martin, a character played by John Mahoney. I knew that Martin reminded me of somebody, but it took me several years to figure out that the person he reminded me of was Franklin Delano Roosevelt. |

John Millington Synge (left) and Ben Affleck
(right)
|
I stumbled upon Affleck/Synge resemblance by sheer chance. I don't even remember what exactly I was researching when I saw a photo of John Millington Synge, but as soon as I saw Synge's eyebrows and pompadour I immediately thought of Ben Affleck. |
Marilyn Manson (left) and Oscar Wilde
(right)
| I've been a huge admirer of Oscar Wilde's wit for years, but I've never bothered to check out what he actually looked like. When I finally did I realized that he looked a lot like Marilyn Manson. It made me wonder if their resemblance would be even closer if Manson didn't have his make-up on. |
|
Harrison Ford (left) and Ben Affleck
(right)
|
Harrison Ford bears an uncanny resemblance to a Roman Emperor Philippus the Arab. Their resemblance would've been even spookier if Ford's somewhat crooked nose was pointing in the same direction as Philippus' somewhat crooked nose... |
